Prayers of the Faithful: Praise & Petition
Prayer
The steps of prayer are those as provide by Christ himself. Here is His prayer to the Father as we know to be the Lord's prayer from Matthew 6:9-13 King James Authorized Version, 1769.
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Praise
In the Lord's Prayer, the first part is
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
which is acknowledging God the Father and glorifying Him in reverence in all things on earth and heaven.
This is praise.
We also praise the wonderful blessings we receive.
In the traditional service, praises and petitions are solicitated verbally. Hands are raised or folks sometimes just call out.
Petition
After praising God, Our Father, we then petition.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
This most of what we need to petition for. There many other things we would like to. With some much we could, this is simple. Christ often did things simply.
Finally, we end the prayer in conclusion as we began with reverence and glorifying God.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
